Hi, my name is Emma and I am a first year graduate student in the LAIS department. What drove me to join the LAIS program was the interdisciplinary approach that allows me to work with people from multiple fields as well as all the amazing academics associated with LAIS that are not only making a difference in the classroom but in the communities they study. My current research looks at the stories of the transfronterizo community, people who live, work, and/or study on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. My goal is to diversify the stories of immigrant communities in the United States. As a teaching assistant for the LAIS program, I love working with other first-generation students due to my background participating and working with EOP, TRIO, and Upward Bound.
