Professors San Juanita Garcia and Erika Arenas Velazquez, and Dr. Emiko Saldivar have been awarded the 2021 UCSB Migration Initiative Grant to support their project, “UndocuAging in Times of COVID-19: Stress, Mental Health, and Resistant Strategies among Community Organizers & Older Mexican Undocumented Migrants”. The study will investigate how older (55+) undocumented Mexican adults have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, being a particularly at-risk population. This study is part of ongoing research surrounding the mental health of older undoucumented immigrants. LAIS congratulates the team on the grant and wishes them luck in their ongoing research!
