My research will focus on how people navigated institutions in 16th century colonial Colombia. I will be analyzing how institutions such as the encomienda system, courts, and the Church, were spaces where people were able to establish status, legacy, and demonstrate how they viewed themselves and wanted to be perceived. I am also interested in the history of Latin America in a broader sense, Art History of the Americas, Spanish literature, and of the cultural relationship between the Iberian Peninsula and the Americas.
