Bio:

I am a third-year Ph.D. candidate in History at the University of California, Santa Barbara. My work explores the intersections of political ecology, memory, and infrastructure in the Mediterranean. My research tries to bridge political ecology, environmental history, and critical archival studies, combining ethnographic and digital methodologies to recount how communities living amid extractive environments remember, narrate, and negotiate their pasts. My doctoral research focuses on oil extraction and oil waste throughout Tunisia, Algeria, and Southern Italy from 1960 to today. Through LAIS I am expanding this work to Latin America to understand oil discards and their impact across geographies.
