Jennifer Valenzuela

Bio:

Hello! My name is Jennifer Valenzuela, and I am a second-year graduate student in the LAIS program. My research interests lie in Peru’s Internal Armed Conflict from 1980-2000, specifically on the challenges surrounding the memory of the conflict. I am interested in exploring the physical and verbal attacks against memorial places that emerged in post-conflict. My family’s experience of the conflict and my undergraduate projects at UCR inspired me to research this era of Peruvian history. The LAIS program’s interdisciplinary structure allows me to investigate different angles of my research and encourages me to engage in fruitful discussions with students and professors across departments.
