The Latin American Iberian Studies Program proudly welcomed 4 new graduate students, Liz Marchante, Katia Rodriguez, Jennifer Amador, and Rosa Rodriguez to the program this Fall.
Liz Marchante graduated with a double major in History and Anthropology in the Spring of 2019 from UCSB. Her research interests focus on the relationship between the Church in Guatemala and the identity and integration of Indigenous populations during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries.
Katia Rodriguez graduated from UC Merced in Spring 2019 with a major in Spanish and minor in Psychology. Her research interests center around Mesoamerican Indigenous Literatures and cultures.
Jennifer Amador graduated from UCSB in the Spring of 2016 and majored in Spanish Literature and Language. Her Senior Honors Thesis Ironía y Terror en Los Censores (1983) de Luisa Valenzuela was supervised by Professor Silvia Bérmudez.
Rosa Rodriguez graduated from California State University Long Beach in Spring 2019 with a double major in Sociology and Chicano and Latino Studies. Her research interests pertain to the function, formation and perception of race primarily in Perú with special attention paid to television and media constructions of race.
