LAIS Graduate Program Coordinator
What do you like the most about your job?
What I like most about my job is when I can assist student with figuring out a problem they're having whether that would be something I know the answer to or if I have to contact other people to help me with this. Being able to help a student through their issue only helps me feel like I am making a direct impact.
What has been the most rewarding aspect thus far?
The most rewarding aspect I've had so far in my position was being able to organize, setup and guide a successful recruitment event with all the departments. This was a tremendous amount of coordination and communication between multiple faculty, staff, students and organizations that made this happen and after the end of it all it was very rewarding to see the praise that was given from this experience. I would not have been able to make this happen to be a rewarding experience if it wasn't for the supportive staff and gracious help of graduate students to assist with different tasks.
Is there anything you've learned in this position you'd like to share?
The amount of information and knowledge I've learned thus far in this position has been overwhelming at times. But for one thing that I would say is that being able to reach out to different experienced staff and faculty has shown to me that for all the information that is out there that doesn't mean that I have to struggle to find the answer by myself. There has been a number of extremely helpful people that has taught me where to search for questions I have and allowed me to grow to feel more confident with learning this position further.
Any other LAIS details you'd like to share?
LAIS has gone through a transition stage but I can say, without a doubt, that the administration in the program are dedicated to bring the LAIS program back to a highly recognized state and they have shown this already since I've been in my position. I am excited to be able to join in with this process to see how much we can make this program grow.
